  The secret fears - did you have any?

  i think many jw's have secret fears in common, but don't often voice them.

  it's too bad because then they might wonder why?.

  for instance, one day at work while i was talking to one of the witness ladies, (on her belief of some bible proof of the last days) she suddenly lowered her voice.

  days of future passed, JWs do not believe in the Christian teaching of GRACE at all. The idea of Universal Salvation is one that they would not be able to wrap their minds around.

  By the way, I'm an atheist. I think maybe I always was, even when I was 7 years old and my mom was "jehovizing" me.

  When I was a young man, but still in, there were doctrinal points that I knew I couldn't defend rationally, but from time to time I would do something like throw out a piece of artwork (sculpture) given to me by a non-JW because of a superstitious feeling that *MAYBE* it could be demonized, and *maybe* that was the reason I had an argument with my wife.

  Really stupid stuff, but the JWs essentially teach that we live in an irrational world in which ANYTHING - disembodied voices, floating demon eyeballs, exploding chickens, angelic bodyguards, OUIJA boards that jump into the air and fly apart or will not burn - is possible.

  How do you deal with the loneliness after leaving?

  i'm having one of those days where i feel lonely and wish i had someone to just hang out with.

  my husband got disfellowshipped 3 years ago and even though i didn't do anything wrong i was pushed away.

  my so called "friends" decided to avoid me.

  It isn't easy.

  Our situations are different.

  I'm a guy.

  I'm OLD.

  And my spouse left the JWs with me about 40 years ago.

  BUT

  I was raised a JW and am very poorly socialized. I get along with people but have just a few friends - someone who would help me hide a body, if I had to.

  There is a moderate-sized group of people in the XJW community who I know (and have known) online who I like, admire and respect. Some are no longer among the living; I miss them.

  I think it is important to try within your means to help others. I've done stuff.

  Most people here think I'm an ass, and that is fine with me.

  My totem animal is the armadillo. I have a hard shell and I can ignore trouble until it goes away.

  I think the key for you will be to develop a similar hard shell and appreciate the few people with whom you can build a friendship, but it isn't a quick process, and disappointment is a big part of it.

  If it were possible, I would offer you my blessing, but I am not at all a believer.

  i was wondering if co's who get 'green handshakes' ever report their 'income' from these jw benefits?

  in the us even gifts beyond a certain amount must be reported.

  jw's like to claim how honest they are, do they report all their income?.

  JaniceA is correct.

  According to the IRS (2017), if someone gives you more than the $14,000, the giver must file a gift tax return.

  The person who receives the gift owes no tax.

  EVER.

  If someone gives YOU a gift, do you feel compelled to go to the IRS to pay tax on it, carla? Or do you just feel that EVERYONE else should abide by harsher rules than you do?

  Verifiable proof of Jesus' existance outside the Bible

  thought i'd start a separate discussion on the subject.. those who know me know i'm struggling with faith; i want to believe, some days i do but it becomes difficult.. many believers say there is verifiable proof of jesus' existence outside of the bible.. please post this proof..

  Because tens of thousands of children believe in "Slenderman," he MUST be real, because human beings rarely make errors.

  Consider also that "Slenderman" was unknown to the generation of these children's parents. For such a shift in consciousness to have occurred so suddenly within one generation would suggest something real took place.

  Iron-clad argumentation!
